Early Career Teachers

For new primary teachers the prospects are excellent with high starting salaries (typically £32,157) and good opportunities for promotion. ECTs who are appointed through the pool also receive a Retention and Recruitment (R&R) point of £1,351 and a *£1000 Golden Hello.

We offer a very supportive and varied induction programme. Primary ECTs recruited through the Primary Pool also get up to 3 weeks of paid work in July; a chance to earn over £1000. Most Secondary schools also offer generous incentives.

*NOTE: The Golden Hello is a one off payment for one year only. Employment based trainees do not receive a Golden Hello. The R&R is only for ECTs starting on M1.
