Eligibility criteria for primary applicants
- A UK bachelors degree or equivalent in a relevant subject*
- GCSE grade C or above in Mathematics and English.
If you intend to teach primary or key stage 2/3 (ages 7-14), you must also
have achieved a standard equivalent to a grade C in a GCSE Science subject.*
- Have recent and relevant experience of working in
an inner city school, preferably Newham.
- Can demonstrate that they have the potential to teach in a diverse,
exciting environment, committed to raising educational achievement.
*Qualifications gained overseas must be accompanied by NARIC certification.

Providers now stipulate a 2.2 degree or above, as a minimum requirement.
We receive a great number of applications, so priority is given to candidates:
- who already have a school to train them;
- who are already working in Newham schools;
- have recent, relevant experience of inner-city schools, preferably in Newham;
- with a high level of school experience;
- who reflect the diverse nature of our borough.
